About The Role

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced People Business Partner to join our growing and dynamic firm on a 6 month fixed term contract with a view to move to a permeant position. As a People Business Partner you will be the ambassador for the People team.

The role will also include mentoring our Peoples Advisor to provide guidance on employee relations issues in line with relevant employment law.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a business partnering role, with knowledge of employee engagement and well-being, performance management and diversity & inclusion.

The People department is filled with HR and Learning and Development professionals working in an engaging and friendly environment. Main responsibilities
  • To promote continuous improvement across the Firm, be a positive role model throughout times of change, ensuring change management is effectively planned and delivered
  • To ensure Leadership Teams are fully engaged in the importance of employee experience, working with managers to increase employee engagement
  • To mentor our  People Advisor, promoting the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
  • To work closely with our recruitment team to ensure we attract and retain the right people for the right roles
  • To take a proactive approach in updating policies and procedures, ensuring that all relevant legislative requirements are embedded in the development of policy and project work
  • To coach, support and challenge managers in the application of People policies and practices, provide advice and guidance on complex people issues in order to minimise risk
  • To identify opportunities, supporting management to close gaps that will drive Firm performance
  • To work with the People Development Team to help individuals to continuously develop their skills and knowledge in order to achieve their ambitions
  • To support managers in all aspects of absence management including long and short term absence, utilising support from external medical experts in line with the Firm’s policies and procedures
  • To support employees and guide managers through the family friendly processes, ensuring all records are kept up to date, including relevant payroll requirements.
  • To prepare and provide insights on People metrics, providing the Firm with relevant and meaningful information to inform business decisions

Person specification

  • CIPD, or equivalent educational achievement (Level 5) or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Previous experience in a business partnering role (desirable)
  • Good generalist understanding of the People function with knowledge of employee engagement and well-being, performance management and diversity & inclusion
  • Experience working with managers to create positive business outcomes
  • Experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • A good understanding of current employment law 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, comfortable liaising with people of all levels within the business 
  • Excellent IT skills – Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Strong interpersonal, follow-up, problem-solving & creative thinking skills
  • Self-motivated and driven
