About The Role

We have a great opportunity for a HR Advisor who is passionate about delivering a credible HR Advisory and Employee Relations Service. The role is varied, from coaching managers on day-to-day people management issues, to using people data to gain insight and develop appropriate HR focused business initiatives. The role will report into the HR Business Partner, whilst full support and training will be provided, there will be the opportunity to be involved in project work which feeds into the overall People Strategy. 

The ideal candidate will ideally have previous HR Advisory experience. Whilst previous legal or professional services experience would be desirable, above all we are looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of managing a variety of employee relations cases. The People Team pride themselves on providing an excellent service to the Firm which means it is essential for the HR Advisor to build strong relationships with managers to support them through our people processes and provide guidance when required.

The successful candidate will advise and coach line managers on day-to-day issues including disciplinaries, grievances and absence management. You will work closely with the management teams as well as the wider HR team to ensure delivery of consistent and fair management standards across the firm.

Main Responsibilities

  • Advising and guiding line managers on employee relations cases, helping to reduce any risk.
  • Maintaining up to date and in depth understanding of current employment law, knowing where to access it and the impact of it on the Firm
  • Acting as an ambassador of the People Team, driving a consistent way of working and best practice.
  • Acting as the performance improvement driver supporting employees to deliver a positive people management culture.
  • Develop a basic understanding how to evaluate and measure performance at Horwich Farrelly.
  • Use your knowledge and experience to identify opportunities and risks supporting the Business Partners to close gaps that will drive Firm performance
  • Acting as a positive role model during transitions of change
  • Co-ordinating, tracking, monitoring and reporting on ER cases, restructure and redundancy activities.
  • Giving comprehensive advice on terms and conditions of employment and HR policies to employees and line managers.
  • Helping to create and maintain HR policy and procedures.
  • Supporting employees through the family friendly processes, ensuring all records are kept up to date including relevant payroll requirements.
  • Providing administrative and operational support to the HR Business Partners.

  • Experience and/ or exposure to a wide range of employee relations work including: absence management, disciplinaries, grievances and performance management – Essential
  • CIPD qualified (ideally level 5 or above) -Essential
  • A good understanding of current employment law  – Essential
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, comfortable liaising with people of all levels within the business  – Essential
  • Strong interpersonal, follow-up, problem-solving & creative thinking skills – Essential
  • Self-motivated and driven – Essential
  • Previous advisory experience gained within a fast paced environment  – Desirable
  • Policy writing skills –  Desirable
