About The Role

Our Manchester office are looking to recruit a Senior Solicitor or Litigation Executive for the High Value Fraud Team. They will be responsible for a case load of litigated cases valued in excess of £25,000 and therefore would need to have prior experience in running a case load.

The ideal candidate would be a motivated, passionate individual with strong organisational skills, the ability to use their initiative and the desire to develop their knowledge in litigation. Previous litigation experience is essential. The content of their case load will depend upon their technical ability and previous experience.

The basic purpose of the job and its primary objectives are to:

  • Deal with a case load of files.
  • Ensure that clients are confident that their legal affairs are dealt with in a business-like and competent manner, and to ensure the efficient operation of the practice.
  • Monitor workload in compliance with service standards within the Defendant Fraud Department.

Main Responsibilities

The work is on a completely non-delegated authority basis at this stage, and therefore the fee earner's day to day responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Responsible for communicating, providing advice and building relations with the respective insurer client and their insured where appropriate
  • Responsible for organising, and prioritising court deadlines to ensure compliance.
  • Reviewing files to consider prospects of establishing dishonesty on the part of the claimant.
  • Drafting relevant documentation, including reports, letters of instruction, defences, applications and more.
  • Liaising with members of the firms Large Loss team.
  • Negotiating settlement with Claimant representatives where necessary or defending cases to trial including instructing counsel and providing post-trial feedback to the client.
  • Ensure accuracy of data and MI on every file.


    Personal Specification

    Desirable skills / experience

    • The team are happy to consider candidates who are a Solicitor or CILEX qualified.
    • Previous litigation experience is essential 
    • Experience of handling multi-track cases is desirable 
    • Previous experience with handling, and assessing claims involving injury and future loss.
    • Demonstrable experience in reviewing and assessing liability in RTA's.
    • An excellent understanding of the CPR and the Personal Injury claims process. Litigation experience essential.
    • An ability to assess the prospects of a finding of fundamental dishonesty and the technical/tactical experience to identify and progress enquiries to enhance the likelihood of such a finding.
    • High levels of organisation.
    • Be able to work calmly in a pressurised environment.
