About The Role

The basic purpose of the job and its primary objectives

To competently deal with a case load of predominantly hourly rate, litigated, non DA complex Fraud files within our case management system, to include:  running their own case load of complex motor fraud matters, to ensure that clients are confident that their legal affairs are dealt with in a professional and competent manner, and to ensure the efficient operation of the London team.

  • To comply with MI reporting and Client Service Level Agreements.
  • To carry out Advocacy on applications and Case Management Conferences as and when required.
  • To retain up to date knowledge at all times through internal and external courses/seminars and feed back to Clients and other peers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Competent at dealing with own caseload on a non DA basis working with a range of insurers and complying with SLAs.
  • To provide advice at appropriate stages within the life cycle of a case
  • To identify fraud and have an understanding of how Intelligence analysts work.
  • To identify and advise on any issues with an insured’s policy of insurance.
  • To comply with all litigation dates, ensuring defences and other court documentation is filed in ample time, allowing sufficient time for postal service.
  • To comply with court directions.
  • To comply with Civil Procedure Rules and have a good understanding of CPR.
  • To maximise profit by considering appropriate tactical applications.
  • To keep databases up to date for MI reporting.
  • Entering into telephone negotiations, liaising with third party solicitors and insurers, own insurer clients and lay clients’; drafting documents/applications/offers/orders/directions.
  • Attending telephone conferences/applications/trials.
  • Carrying out own Advocacy from time to time where appropriate on applications and Case Managements Conferences
  • Managing time in an effective manner with organisational skills and use of case management system.
  • Seeing cases through from commencement to conclusion whilst dealing with cases in a cost effective matter.
  • Ensure that all cases are dealt with in compliance with Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and Law Society Practice Management Standards.

The Candidate

Skills & Experience required:

  • Previous experience within a similar role handling a full and varied case load.
  • A knowledge or experience of Personal Injury Clams; preferably Defendant.
  • Previous experience working within the insurance sector 
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and creative problem solving.
  • Professional and confident telephone manner.
  • Experience of working with a Case Management System.
  • Ability to type own documents and reports.
  • Advocacy experience welcomed
