About The Role

The basic purpose of the job and its primary objectives


To support the Head of Finance with the firm’s management reporting, financial reporting and financial compliance.


Main responsibilities


  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and balances sheet reconciliations


  • Preparation of annual financial accounts


  • Review policies, procedures and processes within the team, ensuring they are adequate, efficient and adhere to regulatory requirements and internal guidelines


  • Completion of the quarterly VAT returns and liaison with HMRC


  • Development and implementation of a WIP management policy within the firm


  • Review and support monthly payroll


  • Lead on the firms audit


  • Provide technical financial advice to operational departments with particular reference to the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and VAT


  • Partnership accounting – drawings, profit sharing, loans


Essential skills/qualifications


  • Qualified ACA
  • Previous experience of Management and Financial Accounts preparation
  • Proven record of process implementation and improvement
  • Good working knowledge of VAT and payroll
  • Experience of the legal sector
  • Strong team player
