Our Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with BPP University, a trusted organisation with over 40 years’ experience in developing legal professionals, from paralegals through to solicitors. The two-year course will prepare you for a rewarding career as a paralegal, supporting our industry leading legal teams.

What will you be doing during the apprenticeship?

You will assist solicitors and fee earners with files by producing standard documentation, updating the firm’s database, and communicating directly with third parties in a professional and effective way.

You will have the opportunity to build and manage your own caseload of files and assist our solicitors and lawyers as needed. You will ensure that clients are confident that their legal affairs are dealt with in a competent manner, contributing to the efficient operation of the firm.

You will also undertake administrative duties to support the smooth running of the team. Here’s a breakdown of what your role will look like:

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Undertake all administrative duties as requested, demonstrating a high degree of self-management and initiative.
  • Manage and coordinate files, correspondence, and documents.
  • Make and receive telephone calls to provide updates and information to relevant parties as required.
  • Prepare and process correspondence and documents through word processing.
  • Administer daily post and assist with daily filing of documentation in files.
  • Ensure that an effective filing system is maintained.
  • Assist with the dispatch of outgoing correspondence and enclosures.
  • Conducting legal research.

 

Progressing to supporting solicitors as and when required, including:

  • Assisting the solicitors/fee earners with chasers and post.
  • Updating information on our case management systems as requested.
  • Communicating directly with third parties/clients over the telephone in a professional and effective way.
  • Providing first-line support for client queries.
  • Producing standard documentation.

 

Progression to assisting on all types of files:

  • Issuing proceedings to recover insurer clients’ outlays, handling pre-litigation claims and MoJ work.
  • Drafting legal documents.
  • Assisting with the dispatch of outgoing correspondence and enclosures.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information.
  • Undertaking any specific training as required.

Progressing to file management:

  • Ensuring that all cases comply with SRA and Law Society Practice Management Standards.
  • Practice good file management.
  • Ensure all important dates are diarised.
  • Keep up to date with all correspondence related to files.
  • Comply with HF’s practices and procedures.

 

After two years, you will be a qualified Paralegal, handling your own files with opportunities for further career advancement, including team leadership, operational management, or even becoming a Partner!

What do I need?

To be eligible to apply for a Level 3 Apprenticeship you will need 3 x A-levels at A*-C or equivalent qualifications.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

  • A keen interest in a career within one of our legal departments as a Solicitor.
  • Initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.

Due to provider requirements, we cannot accept applications from candidates who already hold a degree.
