The purpose of the job and its primary objectives:

The primary purpose of this role is to take responsibility for the successful operation and development of the key software solutions and services. The role is essential to the future growth and success of Horwich Farrelly, it is a great opportunity to drive product innovation and Influence technology product strategies that will future proof the Horwich Farrelly digital customer experience. The successful candidate will maintain and lead the creative engine of the Technology Department (Development, Business Analysts and Testing teams).

Main Responsibilities:

  • Forming part of the IT Leadership team you will work collaboratively across the IT department and the Firm focusing and motivating all staff 
  • You will be responsible for the leadership of the Development, Business Analysts and Testing teams and will recruit, lead, motivate, develop and manage the performance of direct reports, building a high calibre team with the skills and capabilities needed to deliver the required results
  • Management of any risks or issues which may arise and escalate when appropriate
  • Focus mainly on the customer experience and build products that will engage, entice and excite them
  • Develop Digital Product Strategy for Horwich Farrelly, with a focus on increasing customer engagement and experience to drive revenue
  • Liaise with clients and business representatives to understand the needs of business
  • Ensure compliance to product solution design in the implementation of projects
  • Explain design issues and IT solution strategies to stakeholders and other IT professionals
  • Keep accurate record of materials used, expected deliverables, and milestones achieved
  • Monitor and Maintain the quality of the teams output by implementing KPI’s for all service areas
  • Report on the activities and accuracy of Business Analysts, developers and Testers on IT solutions
  • Responsible for employee engagement, satisfaction and productivity gains
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and projects of varying sizes and complexity 
  • Identify, manage and mitigate all risks and Issues
  • Work closely with other business functions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Stimulate innovation internally through collaboration in key business initiatives and external networks
  • Introduce a talent management framework to help identify skills gaps and opportunity to develop staff

  • Essential skills:

  • Experience of implementing Machine Learning and AI technologies
  • Implementing Client Portal technologies
  • The ability to grasp complex problems and come up with solutions in a simple and effective mannerExcellent communications skills, with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to motivate others and lead change
  • Extensive project management experience using industry standard methodologies such as Prince2 and Agile
  • Experience of managing scrums and initiating communities of practice
  • Ability to manage, motivate, collaborate and communicate to cross-functional teams
  • Experience delivering cross departmental, multi work stream projects
  • Imaginative and creative thinking skills
  • Ability to analyse and critically assess problems utilising industry standard tools
  • Understanding of history, and cultural and environmental concerns
